Second screen Interaction

Best Buy is launching Movie Mode, a mobile platform that provides an interactive edge to movie viewing experiences.

Today, they announced the program’s first app, a tie-in to the upcoming animated film Despicable Me. Text ‘minion’ to 332211 to download the app directly to your phone, and it will translate everything the movie’s Minions characters are saying during the end credits.

This is a great way to embrace the second screen to create a larger, integrated strategy. According to a recent Nielsen survey, 10 percent or more of viewers are visiting social networks, searching the Web and browsing content during major TV events. Social viewing is a trend that’s on the rise thanks to today’s mobile devices. Media producers can now tap into this “multitasking” behavior, using multiple screens to create a layered experience of a single piece of content.

What do you think….?
